Research activities:
The group has an experimental activity conducted at the European Large Facilities in the framework of bilateral collaborations and of the E.U. ''Access to Large Scale Facilities'' Programme. The subject is the physics of laser produced plasmas with two main directions: i) study of the physics of partially degenerate, strongly coupled plasmas with particular reference to Inertial Confinement Fusion, and ii) study of laser-plasmas as soft X-ray sources, their development and optimisation and their applications. Main collaborations of the group include: LULI, Ecole Polytechnique, FRANCE, University of Essex, ENGLAND, Max Planck Institut für Quantenoptik, Garching, GERMANY, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, ENGLAND.
