Research activities:
The research activity of IFP, within the frame of the EURATOM-ENEA-CNR Association, is performed along three lines:

1. ECRH experiment on FTU Tokamak (ENEA, Frascati) at high density. The FTU plasma will be heated at 140GHz, 2MW, for 0.5s, by microwave power produced by four Gycom Co. Gyrotrons. The experiment will be sided by the development of the necessary high power millimetre wave components.
2. Fusion Technologies: a) separations of ions in a plasma by RF generated ponderomotive forces, b) surface analysis of Fusion devices wall material.
3. Theoretical research on Plasma Physics and Thermonuclear Fusion: a) wave-plasma interaction and nonlinear wave phenomena, b) tokamak MHD and transport, c) theoretical support to the ECRH experiment on FTU.
4. JET-EFDA: participation, within Task Force S 2, to experiments on heat transport, and within Task Force M, to experiments on driven reconnections in rotating plasmas.
5. JET-EP: contribution to the design of error field compensating coils and to the scientific and technical development of an ECRH/ECCD system for JET.
6. ITER: studies on ECCD control on NTM modes.
