Research activities:
The fusion programme operates principally through:

• Twenty Contracts of Association with Member States (plus Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania) or organisations in Member States.
• The European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA), which is responsible for fusion technology activities carried out by the Associations and by European industry, the collective use of the JET Facilities, and the EU's contribution to international collaborations such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
• Contracts of limited duration (in particular with organisations in countries associated to the Euratom framework Programme but without a fusion Contract of Association) and industrial contracts.
