Geological Setting |
Regional - located in the Carswell impact structure in the western part of the Athabasca Basin. Basement rocks consist of the Peter River (para)gneiss and adjacent Earl River (ortho)gneiss, both intruded by granite and pegmatite. East flank of Domini1ue Earl River complex dome. Host rocks - regolith-overprinted Peter River paragneiss.
Age of Mineralization |
1050 Ma (U-selenide assemblage) - probably an isotopic reset date.
Mineralization |
Description - uraninite-polymetallic sulphide and uraninite-dravite-simple sulphide assemblages. Fracture fillings, veinlets, and disseminations along N- and ENE-trending faults within 10s of meters of the mylonite zone. Accompanied by storng chlorite-sericite-hematite alteration.
MetallogenicAspects |
Mineralization entirely within basement close to mylonite zone marking the Earl River - Peter River gneiss contact.
