Sandstone - Roll Front

Geological Setting

Lithology: Basement rocks are ?Archaean to Mesoproterozoic metasediments and granite. There is a major unconformity between the basement rocks and the Carnarvon Basin shelf strata. Basal terrestrial conglomerate in paleochannels. Alteration: oxidation Hostrock Age: Cretaceous

Age of Mineralization

Cretaceous and younger

Mineralization

Ore Mineralogy: Uraninite and coffinite. Mineralization Description: Mineralisation occurs within Birdrong Sandstone in the paleochannel as two tabular zones along a redox boundary. Ore Controls: Premeability of the rock units and the shape of the paleochannel controlled the migration of groundwater and the deposition of uranium.
