Geological Setting |
Regional - Kitts - Post Hill fold and thrust belt (Kitts deposit is at north end of 30 km long southwest-trending belt thrust over by basement from southeast and cut by Long Island pluton to the north). Host rocks - Post Hill Gp argillite (argillite and associated cherts, quartzites, and tuffs form an interflow sequence in predominantly mafic volcanic rocks).
Age of Mineralization |
1777 +/- 9 Ma (ICP-MS) | ||
Mineralization |
Disseminated pitchblende grains and aggregates in en echelon lenses along argillite. Strata-bound (pitchblende is concentrated along a 20 m thick argillite overlying and in part interbedded with a chert bed up to 15 m thick, between two pillow lavas
MetallogenicAspects |
disseminated stratabound (A and B Zones); aggregates along bedding (A and B Zones); aggregates at minor fold crests (A and B Zones); veinlets (A and B Zones); fracture fillings (A and B Zones)
