Abstract.  We present an analysis of the typical features of shear Alfvén waves in tokamak plasmas in a frequency domain ranging from the ``high'' frequencies ( $ \omega$ $ \cong$ vA/2qR0; vA being the Alfvén speed and qR0 the tokamak connection length) of the toroidal gap to the ``low'' frequencies, comparable with the thermal ion diamagnetic frequency, $ \omega_{*pi}^{}$ and/or the thermal ion transit frequency $ \omega_{ti}^{}$ = vti/qR0 (vti being the ion thermal speed).
