Abstract
We present an analysis of the typical features of shear Alfvén waves in tokamak plasmas in a frequency domain ranging from the ``high'' frequencies ( $\omega \cong v_A/2qR_0$; $v_A$ being the Alfvén speed and $qR_0$ the tokamak connection length) of the toroidal gap to the ``low'' frequencies, comparable with the thermal ion diamagnetic frequency , $\omega_{*pi}$ and/or the thermal ion transit frequency $\omega_{ti} =
v_{ti}/qR_0$ ($v_{ti}$ being the ion thermal speed).
