Research activities:
The main objectives of research and development activities at the IPPLM are:

• Dense magnetized plasma physics
• Magnetic confinement theory with emphasis on tokamak physics
• Plasma-focus as a high intensity radiation source
• Physics and technology of pulsed-power generators
• Properties of a laser-plasma in strong external magnetic and electric fields
• Properties of high Z laser-generated plasmas
• Selected problems of laser fusion
• Physics of plasma produced by a high-power ultra-short laser pulse
• Physics and technology of high power lasers
• Automatization of diagnostic systems

At present the IPPLM is carrying out three large-scale international experiments:

• Neutron, X-ray, electron and ion emission from a large plasma focus device (within the frame of the International Centre for Dense Magnetised Plasmas)
• Laser-plasma multiply charged ion source. Experiments are carried out at the PALS Research Centre (Prague, Czech Republic) and at the IPPLM
• Studies of plasma produced with the use of 1-TW, 1.2-ps laser system (collaboration with Institute of Physics ASCR, Prague)
