Research activities:
A small tokamak Kaerit-1, or KT-1, was built in 1988 and operated since. It is utilized for the development of diagnostic system for plasma applications. Neutral beam system (8 MW, 120 keV) and ion cyclotron system (6 MW, 25 - 60 MHz) for the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) tokamak are being developed to provide heating as well as current drive capability for long pulse length up to 300 sec. Design has been completed and the long pulse relevant heating and current drive technologies are under development.
