Research activities:

1. The physics of low aspect ratio tokamaks
   • Correct solution of the full electromagnetic wave equation - with consideration of both kinetic and collisional effects - for arbitrary aspect ratio, non-circular cross section tokamak plasmas
   • Non-inductive current drive and heating by externally launched fast waves in low aspect ratio tokamaks
   • Plasma turbulence suppression and transport barriers generation by externally driven rf waves in low aspect ratio tokamaks
   • Optimization of low aspect ratio tokamak configurations - equilibrium and stability studies - based on the previous results.
2. Plasma flows generated by high pressure discharges in ablative capillaries and their uses
   • Hard coating of metals and ceramics
   • Ballistics
