Research activities:
Atomic physics for fusion plasmas: ab initio calculation of ion-atom (molecule) collision cross sections and rate coefficients (CTMC method). Evaluation of transition probabilities and of radiative, three body and dielectronic recombination rates. Constitution of a fusion oriented numerical data base, also used in astrophysical applications. Fusion plasmas modelling (C-R and average atom ACHAM type models). Application to astrophysical plasmas containing multicharged ions. Study of the three-body problem classical trajectories and chaos and of model potentials for quasiclassical n-body collision codes.

Statistical mechanics of strongly correlated dense plasmas: Quantum corrections to the classical equation of state.

Inertial fusion: Heavy ion - dense matter (solid, surface, plasma) interaction at high energy with application to inertial fusion. Ion - cluster interaction in thermonuclear plasmas. Propagation of high intense laser beam through capillary tube. Physics of the fast ignitor. Interaction of relativistic intense electrons beam with dense matter. Magnetized targets for fusion.
