Calibration of Dosimeters Used in Radiotherapy
Technical Reports Series No.  374
The present guide is a revision of IAEA Technical Reports Series No. 185, Calibration of Dose Meters Used in Radiotherapy, published in 1979. It is intended for use by the network of Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratories (SSDLs) and similar laboratories, usually associated with hospitals, performing testing and calibration of dosimeters. It describes the various calibration procedures, their relative advantages and disadvantages, and puts forward criteria to assist in the decision making process as to which procedure best meets a particular requirement.
Contents: 1. Introduction; 2. The role of an SSDL; 3. Quantities and units; 4. Definitions; 5. Calibration methods; 6. Calibration equipment and facilities; 7. measurements to be performed before calibration; 8. Care and maintenance of calibration equipment; 9. Calibration procedures; 10. Uncertainty of the calibration factor; 11. Measurement of absorbed dose.
