Research activities:
The LLNL Fusion Energy Program includes

• Experimental collaboration on DIII-D exploring advances in tokamak divertors, means of increasing stored plasma energy, and other key issues.
• Computational modelling of edge physics, plasma turbulence and transport, and development of disparate time scale computational codes to integrate a wide range of tokamak physics.
• Evaluation of exploratory concepts in MFE.
• Participation in physics, engineering, design, magnet system and R&D for ITER.
• The Sustained Spheromak Physics Experiment (SSPX) is evaluating the physics of the magnetic dynamics and confinement in a spheromak sustained by helicity injection.
