Experimental:

• Exploitation of the tokamak TCV (B = 1.5T, I = 1MA, aspect ratio = 3.7, plasma elongation = 1-3)
• Construction and exploitation of a 4.5MW ECRH system (3MW at 83GHz, 1.5MW at 118GHz)
• High unit power, high frequency, high efficiency gyrotron development
• Plasma-wall interaction
• Diagnostics development

Theoretical and Modelling:

• Equilibrium and stability of toroidal plasmas (tokamak and stellarator)
• Theory of RF heating and current-drive
• Kinetic theory and numerical simulation (low frequency microinstabilities, Alfvén modes, transport, gyrotrons.)

Fusion Technology:

• Superconducting magnets (exploitation of SULTAN test installation)
• Resistance of materials to irradiation (PIREX simulation experiment with 590MeV protons)
