Research activities:
The idea of transmutation of nuclear waste in the fusion-driven devices is under investigation. In particular, the increased neutron multiplication by 14 MeV source neutrons promises more efficient and safe substitution of plasma gain, thus leading to a relaxation of respective demand for high plasma Q.
Muon Catalyzed Fusion Group:
- Fusion in muonic hydrogen-helium molecules
- Scattering of muonic atoms in hydrogen
- Monte Carlo simulations of kinetics of muon catalyzed fusion in hydrogen
- Rotational transitions in helium-hydrogen muonic molecules
- Auger deexcitation of muonic hydrogen atoms in collisions with electronic hydrogen
- Nuclear fusion in asymmetric muonic molecules via Faddeev-equations treatment
- Monte-Carlo simulation of muonic atom cascade using the new theoretical data for Stark-transitions
- Study of nuclear fusion reactions at low collision energies using Z-pinch technique
