Research activities:
Practice-oriented research and development in the areas: materials for construction and mechanical engineering, trace analysis, applied physics in building, HVAC technology, energy uses and efficient energy applications, environmental technology.

Applied materials research on selected metals and high performance ceramics (structure, properties, mechanical behaviour). Characterization of the service-related properties of test specimens, components and structures. Special research activities in the areas of non-destructive testing (microanalysis, image analysis methods), boundary layer technology, bonding technology, fracture mechanics for rapid or cyclic loading, service life, strength and reliability. Integral treatment of interdisciplinary topics (contract research, expertise in damage analysis, etc.).
