Research activities:
The research activities at CEIT related with nuclear fusion deal with the development and optimization of carbon based materials for plasma facing components in fusion devices. Different doped fine grain graphites with optimized microstructure in view of reduced chemical erosion and hydrogen retention, and with improved thermomechanical properties are being developed.

Other research fields of CEIT's Materials Department comprise the investigation of metals processing, modelling and mechanical behaviour of materials, their structural reliability, and the consolidation of metallic and ceramic powders.
