Research activities:
Research activities are confined to diagnostics of low-density laser ablated plasmas in different ambient environment used for various applications such as thin film deposition. Diagnostics like emission and absorption spectroscopy, fast photography, optical, and electrical probes are used to estimate various parameters of plasmas for correlating the plasma characteristics with the properties of the deposited film. Laser ablated plasmas in an external magnetic field have been used to study instabilities in the plasmas. Analytical work is being pursued to understand laser - plasma interaction in an ambient atmosphere. No work is being done related to fusion or reactor physics.
