The papers are held as Adobe Acrobat PDF documents. The CD-ROM comes complete with Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05 for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX for you to install on your computer, if you do not already have a copy of the Acrobat Reader software.
Acrobat Reader for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000
Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Double-click on the `My Computer' symbol on your Windows Desktop, then double-click on the CD-ROM icon. The contents of the CD-ROM will be shown. Double-click on the directory Acrobat, on the subdirectory Win and on the executable Rs405eng.exe. Follow the installer's on-screen instructions.
Acrobat Reader for Macintosh
Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Open the Acrobat folder. Open the Mac folder and double-click the installer icon. Follow the installer's on-screen instructions.
Acrobat Reader for UNIX (SUN Sparc, HP, IRIX (SGI), AIX and Digital UNIX)
If you are installing in the root file system, you need to log in as superuser. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If the CD-ROM does not get mounted automatically, mount it using the UNIX ``mount'' command (see UNIX systems administrator guide or manual pages for details). Change to the CD-ROM mount directory. This directory is the root directory for the CD-ROM. To install Acrobat Reader, change the directory to acrobat/unix/. Use the ``tar'' command to extract the file xxx405.tar, where `xxx' stands for your operating system, into a temporary directory. Change to that temporary directory, change to the xxx.install subdirectory and type ./INSTALL. Follow the installer's on-screen instruction. You may want to read the file INSTGUID.TXT and any `readme' file before.
When the installation is complete, type <install path>/bin/acroread to launch Acrobat Reader.
Acrobat Reader for Linux-iX86
For many Linux distributions (RPM-) packages exist which allow easy software installation and upgrade. You will probably find a package with Acrobat Reader 4.05 on the web site of your Linux distributor, or you may search for ``acroread'' on http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM.
Alternatively you may follow the procedure described above for other UNIX operating systems.
