1 This dose guidance is set at the levels that will allow completion of tasks and return to the base without exceeding the levels in the international guidance (IAEA GS-R-2). Emergency worker dose level guidance values are expressed as integrated external dose and it is assumed that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent internal exposure. The guidance is for the entire time of the emergency.

2 In principle, no dose restrictions are recommended for life saving if, and only if, the benefit to others clearly is more important than rescuer's own risk.

3 Workers shall be volunteers and be provided with information on the potential health consequences of exposure to allow them to make an informed decision.

4 Every effort should be made to keep doses below this dose while performing life saving actions.
