Abstract
OPAL is a 20 MW pool type research reactor with a peak thermal neutron flux of 2.9×1014 cm-2s-1. The core is surrounded by a heavy water reflector vessel where all the irradiation facilities are located. OPAL reached criticality in August 2006 and is currently being effectively utilised for neutron beam research, production of radioisotopes for medical and research purposes, and for commercial irradiations. This paper describes the details of irradiation facilities available at OPAL and the products and services offered to customers.
