» Development of a National Infrastructure for Nuclear Power'
“For new countries considering nuclear power, it is essential to ensure that the necessary infrastructure will be available. ‘Infrastructure’ includes many components – from industrial infrastructure such as manufacturing facilities, to the legal and regulatory framework, to the institutional measures to ensure safety and security, to the necessary human and financial resources. As a sophisticated technology, nuclear power requires a correspondingly sophisticated infrastructure.”
Mohamed ElBaradei,
Director General, IAEA
A nuclear power programme is a major undertaking requiring careful planning, preparation and investment in a sustainable infrastructure that provides legal, regulatory, technological, human and industrial support to ensure that the nuclear material is used exclusively for peaceful purposes and in a safe and secure manner. The IAEA publications below provide some guidance and information for Member States that are considering nuclear power to achieve their national energy needs. This list will be updated as additional guidance material becomes available. |
