Research activities:
Analysis of plasma transport, plasma kinetics, plasma radiation, plasma excitation in a wide variety of plasmas over a large density range. These studies include nucleation, cluster and dust formation.

Development of diagnostic techniques: scattering (Thomson, Rayleigh, Mie, collective), LIF, interferometry, tomography, CARS, probes.

Plasma applications, in particular plasma surface processing, such as etching, surface modification, deposition (Si, C) and development of high density plasma sources for surface modification and as a light source. Analysis of plasma wall interaction and analysis by ellipsometry, infrared and visible absorption of surface layer and modified layer.
Particle formation in chemical plasmas, powder detection

Plasma accelerators and wave generation in electron beam plasma generators.

Direct fusion relevance:

• plasma-wall interaction studies, recycling studies
• development of high intensity hydrogen atom and ion sources
• high energy density sources for divertor material test studies
• tomography (80 channels) including reconstruction algorithms
• development of high tension power supplies for free electrons masers
• theoretical studies of propagation and absorption of electron cyclotron resonance waves
