Research activities:
The aim of our research is to establish a new analytical method for light elements (hydrogen and helium) existing in a surface layer of various materials, especially in the fast wall of nuclear fusion reactors. Energy spectra of recoil particles emitted by fast neutron impacts are measured to obtain depth profiles of the light elements. Mono-energetic fast neutrons produced by a nuclear reaction using a high energy ion beam are used for the measurements. Several detection techniques and theoretical treatments developed in nuclear physics are applied in this study.
