Research activities:
Microwave technology and fusion research: Development of high power microwave systems for ECRH and plasma technology (frequency range: 2.45 to 140 GHz; power range: kW to MW, pulsed or cw) for fusion plasmas. Application to plasma build-up, heating, current drive, MHD instability suppression, and microwave processing of materials.

Laser diagnostics and spectroscopy: Development of diagnostic methods for measuring plasma parameters by means of quantitative and high resolution spectroscopy of molecules, atoms and ions, and by laser techniques. Development of optical components and lasers in the far-infrared and ultraviolet spectral range. Evaluation of atomic rate coefficients and development of collisional-radiative models applicable to various plasmas from plasma processing to controlled thermonuclear fusion.
