Research activities:
The laser programme is centered on the physics of thermonuclear plasmas, and physical processes relevant to high performance X-ray driven implosions: laser-plasma interaction, radiation transfer, hydrodynamic instabilities. A major component of this programme is a megajoule class laser, designed to obtain thermonuclear ignition and burn of a DT capsule. The schedule is to deliver the nominal energy in 2008.
