Research activities:
Ongoing research activities are:

  1. Contribution to ITER design, 2D divertor and edge plasma modelling, limiters, 0- and 1-D plasma performance modelling, in collaboration with Hydro-Québec, ITER, EFDA, and Max-Planck-Institut (H. D. Pacher)
  2. Plasma flow and Langmuir probe development and application in collaboration with TEXTOR, Tore Supra, and Kurchatov Institute (C. Boucher)
  3. Remote participation laboratory for communication and real-time experimental participation with TEXTOR and Tore Supra (J.-M. Larsen)
  4. Diagnostic neutral beam development and installation at FTU (A. Sarkissian, B. L. Stansfield)
  5. Development of numerical models for edge modelling based on kinetic codes (J.-P. Matte)
  6. Plasma-wall interactions: particle transport in materials and surface modification (G. G. Ross)
INRS has facilities for MSc. and PhD. students doing thesis work.

INRS has a material analysis laboratory (SIMS, electron microscopes, Auger, XPS, a 400 keV light ion accelerator for RBS, ERD and PIXE, two ionimplanters and plasma machines including a double mirror device for simulating plasma-surface interactions and basic physics).
