From January 2002, the Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP), based in Bristol, UK, assumed joint responsibility with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), based in Vienna, Austria, for publishing the journal Nuclear Fusion. All submissions and the peer review process will continue to be managed by the IAEA, whilst production, distribution, subscription fulfilment and marketing of the journal in print and electronic form will now be the responsibility of IOPP.
The current issue is on-line with free access to all, see http://www.iop.org/EJ/nf. Access to back issues (1998 - 2001) of 2002 is restricted to subscribers. New submissions to the journal should continue to be sent as usual to the NF editorial office in Vienna.
Launched in 1960, Nuclear Fusion is an established leading journal in the field. In 2001, Nuclear Fusion received an ISI impact factor of 2.818 and was ranked as the top journal in the category of Physics and Plasmas. Nuclear Fusion covers work relevant to controlled thermonuclear fusion. This includes production, heating and confinement of high temperature plasmas, as well as the physical properties of plasmas and the experimental and theoretical methods of exploring and explaining them. The journal publishes work on fusion reactor physics, reactor concepts and closely related technology for both magnetic and inertial confinement schemes. Nuclear Fusion publishes letters, articles and reviews as well as book reviews and a calendar of meetings.
Through collaboration with the IAEA, IOPP will build on the established reputation of Nuclear Fusion by promoting this valuable research journal worldwide through IOPP's global network of sales channels. In addition, access to Nuclear Fusion articles will benefit from IOPP's Electronic Journals platform, which includes a wide range of value-added features from an award-winning service. IOPP also publishes the journal Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion which, combined with Nuclear Fusion, makes IOPP the pre-eminent publisher of research articles in the field of controlled thermonuclear fusion.
IOPP assumed its responsibilities for Nuclear Fusion with Volume 42, Issue 1.
